Urban Food Fest- it’s a yes from me!!

Urban Food Fest, Shoreditch

Morning my angels, i was invited down by Birte and the team at Urban Food Fest to review some of their glorious new cocktails and Iced Tea from @tailscocktails and @liptonicedteauk and what a glorious day it was! Open from midday to midnight every Saturday i highly recommend you check it out!

Urban food fest is located in a superb little sunspot in the middle of shoreditch (a short five-ten min stroll from Old Street station) lots of freebies on the day and you’ll get the opportunity to sample giant connect four, jenga and more… giant kids playground if you ask me (but with cocktails) hehe- there are also some lovely authentic food stalls to choose from too- a lot of choice for a lot of needs! Open only on the weekends- i would highly recommend a stop off after your Saturday brunch- it has something for everyone! Food, drink, cakes and games galore!! You could easily idle away hours here and leave feeling great! Also they showcase upcoming brands or products- this weekend it was Lipton… next it was candy kittens and more- so i recommend it! It won’t break the bank either 😊

To the important stuff though- the cocktails. We trialled two options… the shoreditch rocker- dry gin, elderflower liqueur, apple juice, lemon soda, lime juice and strawberry! This one was life and refreshing the gin was a nice touch- adding that gentle bitterness we expect from a good gin! Cocktail-icious! Next we sampled the Tails Berry Mojito or the ‘Tails Collins’ (is it just me or does any take on a tom collins remind you of Ben Stiller in meet the parents?!)…this one here is a mint lovers dream. White rum, creme de cassis ,mint, lime juice and fresh strawberry! Both were lovely, and the perfect accompaniment on a hot summers day.

Cocktails, cocktails but what to try?!

Next to the food… there were so many options but we opted for Salichipapa and Kottu. So what i will say, is that i was surprised at the options available at salchipapa- vegan, halal and everything else you would expect by way of sausages… i opted for the halal chicken served with the freshest and most flavourful chips (i don’t know what they put in their salted herby peri style mix but it was delicious), oh and i went for ketel cheese because well it’s the weekend and why not- hehe!

Lamb curry?! It would be rude not to!

Hello salchipapa fries…

At kottu you’ll find the most amazing curries with rice… in this case rice and lamb. Everything is shredded and mixed up so in every mouthful you get a hunk of meat, rice and veggies- a heady mix and one anyone would crave after a few drinks!!! So, so good!!!

That’s me enjoying my iced tea and soaking up the sun!

Urban food fest was a great place to try, the staff at all the stalls are super friendly and know their food offerings so well! The cocktails on offer also prove very popular.

Definitely check it out, it offers you something different and edgy compared to the likes of Borough Market or Maltby Street Market. Head over there now- this place gets really lively in the evening and i can see why it’s the perfect spot to spend your lazy weekend. Oh and the artwork in shoreditch as expected is stunning… you’ll get to see it all on your stroll down to Urban Food Fest!
